Inspired by the wilds of Africa, the PUMBA violin by South African luthier Ben Booysen features a body made from African padauk, wenge and zebra wood. The design is at once radical, with sharply defined shapes and cutouts, yet traditional in the form of its upper and lower bout curves, making it feel like home to all while standing out quite dramatically.
